Travel Program

Day 1Arrival At Kigali International Airport

Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by your professional driver-guide and transferred to your hotel, where you can settle in and unwind after your journey.

Depending on your arrival time, relax at the lodge and soak in your first impressions of Rwanda, the “Land of a Thousand Hills.”

Day 2Transfer To Bwindi National Park

Enjoy an early breakfast before checking out and beginning your journey from Kigali, Rwanda, to Uganda. The scenic drive to the Katuna border crossing takes approximately three hours, winding through the rolling hills, terraced farmlands, and picturesque countryside that define this beautiful corner of East Africa. Along the way, take in the ever-changing landscapes and daily rural life, which offer a glimpse into the rich culture shared across the region.

After completing your border formalities, continue to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, one of Africa’s oldest and most biologically diverse ecosystems, dating back to the last Ice Age. As your journey unfolds, the landscape gradually gives way to mist-covered hills and ancient emerald rainforest, creating a sense of wonder and anticipation as you draw closer to the home of the endangered mountain gorillas.

Arrive at your lodge in time for a leisurely lunch before settling into the peaceful embrace of the forest. Spend the afternoon relaxing on the lodge veranda with sweeping views of the rainforest, listening to the chorus of birds and forest sounds, or simply unwind as cool mountain mists drift through the treetops. It is the perfect opportunity to soak in the serenity of Bwindi and prepare for the extraordinary gorilla trekking adventure that awaits the following day.

Day 3Meet The Silverback Gorillas

Today is the highlight of your Ugandan adventure. Following an early breakfast, your guide will drive you to the park headquarters for a briefing by the ranger guides before venturing into the ancient rainforest in search of one of the habituated mountain gorilla families.

Every trek is unique. You may hike through bamboo forests, cross small streams, climb forested slopes, or follow ancient elephant trails before finally encountering a gorilla family. The trek will take you about 30 minutes to 6 hours, depending on the gorillas’ location.

Once the gorillas are located, you will spend up to one unforgettable hour observing these gentle giants in their natural habitat. Watching them interact, feed, and care for one another is one of Africa’s most extraordinary wildlife experiences and undoubtedly the highlight of any visit to Uganda.

To enhance your trekking experience, porter services are available and highly recommended at USD 20 per person. They assist with carrying personal belongings such as backpacks, snacks and water while also providing valuable support on the trail. For guests requiring additional assistance, stretcher services can be arranged at USD 600 per person. These services not only make the trek more comfortable and accessible but also directly support the local community.

After the trek, return to the lodge for a well-deserved rest or choose one of the following optional experiences:

Batwa Cultural Experience (USD 80 per person): Spend time with the Batwa community, where you will be welcomed with traditional music and dance. Learn how they once lived in the forest through demonstrations of traditional hunting techniques, fire-making, shelter construction and other aspects of their fascinating way of life, while gaining insight into how the community has adapted since relocating from the forest.

Bwindi Forest Nature Walk (USD 80 per person): Explore one of Bwindi’s scenic forest trails with a ranger guide, discovering beautiful waterfalls, colorful birdlife, butterflies and a variety of forest primates hidden beneath the rainforest canopy.

Thereafter, return to the lodge, freshen up, and enjoy dinner.

Day 4Transfer To Kigali International Airport – Departure

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast before checking out of your lodge and bidding farewell to the tranquil forests of Bwindi. Begin your return journey to Kigali, Rwanda, travelling through the scenic highlands of southwestern Uganda. As you descend from the misty rainforest, take in the rolling hills, terraced farms, and vibrant rural communities that make this region so memorable.

After completing the border formalities at Katuna, continue through Rwanda’s breathtaking countryside, often referred to as the “Land of a Thousand Hills.” The picturesque drive offers a final opportunity to admire the region’s lush landscapes and reflect on the unforgettable experiences of your safari—from remarkable wildlife encounters to the warmth of the local people and the beauty of East Africa’s natural heritage.

Depending on your flight schedule, you may have time for a brief stop in Kigali for lunch or last-minute souvenir shopping before continuing to Kigali International Airport, where you will check in for your onward flight.

As your journey comes to an end, depart with lasting memories of Uganda’s extraordinary wildlife, spectacular scenery, and the unforgettable experience of coming face-to-face with the endangered mountain gorillas.
